Makeup enhances your natural beauty. Cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearance or odour of the human body. Cosmetics include skin-care creams, lotions, powders, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail and toe nail polish, eye and facial makeup, towelettes, permanent waves, coloured contact lenses, hair colours, hair sprays and gels, deodorants, hand sanitizer, baby products, bath oils, bubble baths, bath salts, butters and many other types of products. A subset of cosmetics is called “make-up,” which refers primarily to coloured products intended to alter the user’s appearance. Make up has been around for several centuries already. In fact the first known historical record of using cosmetics to enhance beauty or parts of the face and body was in Egypt during the First Dynasty around the years 3100 – 2907 BC. Make up back then was just the simple eye colouring that is reminiscent of most Egyptians paintings where the eyes are coloured with kohl and other elements and substances. During that time, Egyptians were also very much aware of the effects of the harsh sun on their skin and they already have a sort of lotion to keep their skin moisturized and supple. Continue reading →
